Authentic Environments: the wonder of places and our surroundings

Creating environments for children where our values are a part of the design of our programming spaces may be a new way of viewing how your environment is set up. How are your own beliefs and values reflected in the space you are in everyday? How the environment as the third teacher develops the relationship of the children with materials you use and select, how the space effects the daily interactions, and how time and routines can be flexible and examined for possible changes are ideas that will be discussed.  This a concept that helps us to think deeper about where we work and live for hours at a time.

Developing your understanding in how routines, time, and group work contribute to the environment for learning is a focus in this session.  How do we help to develop wonder filled spaces that are engaging and full of curiosity with multi age groupings? How do we create more authentic environments where we all feel better and more attached to real living?
